Thanks Terry!

That makes a lot of sense. The Chet Atkins SST style of acoustic hasn't been popular in a long while.

Is this a demand issue or a cost/materials issue? Just curious...

While I have your ear, would you reconsider renaming the PM60 (and giving it back a six-on-a-side headstock while you're at it [;)])? I don't particularly care for an import name on a USA-made Parker. Even something like SC-Mojo would be great... Super-Fly would be even better [:)]

Thanks for the real info. We'll be watching for more news.

And regarding my comment about models and naming - see, even the guys in charge might forget that some time ago the Spanish was renamed the Nylon (good idea), probably about when the Concert was renamed the Bronze (not so good idea), correct?

Yes thanks for the clarification Billy T.

I love the Artist. I am surprised about the Classic as I thought that was a fairly popular model. I especially like the "natural stain" Hog finish on them. I guess the Mojo just out sells them ?

I will talk to 2 dealers here and ask them to stock Flys.

I will take my 2 Flys and pm10 in and let them see them, play them, and educate them a little.

Nobody in my area knows anything about the Fly.

I agree about renaming the Singlecut. The current name really does have connotations of an import like my pm10.

I have to chime in here if only to appreciate the FACT that Parker Guitars management cares enough about this community to speak up and be open and honest about what is going on.  Thank you, Terry.  I know it can't be easy in these turbulent economic times to maintain what USM/JAM is hoping to do; continue a legacy and be custodians of a concept.  Kudos.  And I understand the need to build the Parker brand into a viable business - do what you gotta do to keep the dream alive.  I swear, if my ship ever comes in, I am buying one of your renditions of Ken's vision of the electric guitar (to add to the four I already have). Thank you.

BillyT, very nice of you to respond. I don't even know what the big three guitar magazines are. There is a magazine rack in the music stores but I don't look at it. A long time ago I subscribed to some guitar magazines. My choice of guitars to buy was made before I started reading the magazines. My guitar choice what to buy was more influenced by what the guitar players in the local clubs were playing. Before I started playing the choice of what to buy was based on what looked good hanging on  the music store wall. Now the choice of what to buy is more complex because I understand more of the differences in guitars, neck shapes,  neck width, tones, etc. Reliability is one of the qualities at the top of the list. I don't have time to be a guitar tech and a player both. And trying to find a good guitar tech, well ....

Magazine ads are obsolete and a waste of money. You'll reach more people by putting more videos online. Show people what's special about the Fly: contours, sounds, trem-settings, easy restringing. Seeing is believing. When I was researching on buying my first Fly, there was hardly any information online. A couple of youtube vids showcasing the special features and advantages of Flys would have made the choice a lot easier.

What about recordings? I'm always active recordings wise. But I can't make any videos of decent quality.

Have to agree with others, a big thanks to BillyT for putting things straight.  As for mentions in magazines, this months Guitarists magazine (in the UK) has a review of the Mojo Midi Fly.  Overall it scored 4/5 and was only let down by the price, which is more to do with the exchange rate/VAT/Import duties etc so not USM's fault at all.

As for playing live, every gig I do I play one or the other of my 2 Flys and I probably play 50+ gigs a year so I am doing my bit in the UK.

I think BW hit the nail on the head again.

Quality control and reliability will be the single biggest determining factor of whether the Fly brand survives.

It is awesome that BillyT is here and I am sure QC is his top priority. If that attitude becomes pervasive throughout Parker, the Fly has an awesome future.

Regarding the Single cut rename, it will be called the Firefly in the near future. I don't know what model number designation it will have, but we are working on the logo, and the name is already approved by those on high. We have a very interesting new peghead that it will recieve. It will certainly not satisfy all, but I think you will be intriued by it.

Hi David - what price did they quote - and out of interest - what colour was the one they reviewed?

Terry, I love that you've named the SC "Firefly." You should consider some sort of limited-run tie-in with Joss Whedon (a musician and creator of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and... *ahem* "Firefly"). Even a one-off could bring some nice publicity... Just a thought...
