Any other tube amp builders playing Parkers?  Do you have any favorite preamp designs or tweaks with a Parker in mind?

I've built a few tube amps and have modded a few, but have never done anything specifically geared towards a Parker guitar (or any other guitars).

I did some low watt and headphone solid-state amps, but that was pre-parker days.  Would love to do some tube amps, but don't have time, $$ or space at the moment.  keep us posted!

Well, my last build is on the fritz, so it's time to re-work it from the ground up...  Now to decide if it will have the EF86 or 12AX7 front end.

I've been really interested in doing something with micro-tubes...

a little off the beaten path and likely won't shake the walls too much.

I have a couple of those - how do they sound compared the EF86?  Do they need the 'squish' type of circuit to tame gain like the EF86?

I have no experience with the EF86, but the 6SJ7 sounds "complex". I built a single ended DIY circuit called an "Octal Fatness" that uses it for the input tube, which I think sounds great. http://www.diyguitarist.com/GuitarAmps/OctalFatness.htm

I've been playing with a Epiphone Galaxie 10.  I don't have my fly back yet, but there are plenty of obvious problems with the Galaxie.  I lowered B+, replaced one preamp cathode cap and put a smaller on on the other, smaller coupling caps... it went from farty and flabby with very early breakup to tight and clean up to about 3:00 where gentle breakup starts.  Kind of like a 5F1.

Yeah, sometimes it's fun to totally rework an amp, too.

I'm going to try the Octal One amp talked about on sewatt.com.  Supposed to sound great, clean and take pedals well.  Similar circuit except I won't have the cathode follower 12ax7, and use a 6L6 (maybe a KT77 in the future).  Ordered parts yesterday.

i am trying to design a SATURATED FAT tube amp that likes all volumes.  small, light, cheap and USAbuilt. unfortunately the market is flooded, which is not a bad thing.

Interesting idea to create an amp specifically tailored to the tone of a specific guitar.

If any guitar deserved this, it is the Fly.

Although the Fly is an awesome player, its unique tonal qualities can be a challenge on amps that evolved to compliment traditional guitars.

An amp that neutralizes the brittleness without buffering out the sweet ringing clear tones would be ideal.

Having to cut my treble so far back on both Fly and amp makes me think there could be a better balanced amp created to compliment this guitar.

Its silly to be stuck in the concept of building an instrument to compliment traditional amps. That is backwards thinking. Why not build the ultimate instrument and then design its amplification system around that instrument to fully compliment it.

This is one of the things the Fly has been fighting all these years. Its really held the instrument back.
