How do you get that Country twang? Amps? Effects?
« on: June 24, 2011, 11:36:34 PM »
I'll be doing a few tracks on my brothers country record and need some recommendations on amps and effects. I mainly play rock & metal so I'm not really set up for country. Any help would be great.
~Thanks [:)]

Classic Fender tube amps and their copies will be your best bet. Country players use compressors, too, to get loud without clipping.

Try Deluxe Reverb, Tweed, Bassman, Ampeg Reverbarocket, Peavey Classic 30, etc...

Definitely use a compressor - it will help you adjust your technique as well - as you will get more sustain- you might want to consider b
blending on some piezo as well

I played with Roy Buchanan for two years and he used a fender twin reverb. That's it. The studio can add compression. Other than that, it's in your hands... Literally :) . Have fun, go for feel, stay in your comfort zone and make it about the song.

Roy just had it in his fingers and his soul. He could make a wooden block sing.
Here's something before my time I found on youtube. No pedals, just reverb!
