Getting my first
« on: September 20, 2011, 08:06:13 AM »
So tomorrow I'm picking up my first ever Parker. It's a white Fly Deluxe, or at least that's what the sellers claims. But he couldn't read me the serial number since he didn't have the guitar where he was when we spoke. And for some reason didn't take pictures of it when he was selling it. I wouldn't mind if it wasn't a deluxe, finding these guitars is a real hastle since I don't live in the US.

Anyway after spending about a month searching for Parkers on Ebay and our own equivalent trading site, as well as arranging for my relatives in USA to receive the guitar if I bought one on Ebay and then have them send it to me.

But then out of nowhere a Deluxe shows up here in Sweden, first Parker up for sale since May this year. And in May there were two Nitefly's, and one of them was without mics.
So I jumped on the white Deluxe, cost me 12500 SEK ~ 1900 USD. However the high dollar price is due to the high exchange rate, so it's not as bad as it sounds.

So tomorrow I'm going to meet the seller and make the deal. I'll try to take some nice pictures and put them here, I just have to learn how to do it right.
So I'll be back [:D]

So I finally got the pictures worked out, now about the guy selling it. He said he bought while his band was on tour in Japan, so I thought they must doing pretty well. Turns out he plays drums for The Hives, a widely known and very popular Swedish band [8D]
The guitar was a Deluxe like he said, captured the serial no. So that makes this a 2005 right?

I noticed the hole at the top wasn't too pretty.
Also the rings around the switches aren't in best shape, and the knob on the far left is different from the others. The broader bottom part is screwable unattached from the top part.

Love it!

based on the pictures I'd say it's a 95 pre-refined Fly. The knob on the left is normal and controls the volume and tone of the piezo. truss hole does look chipped. How does it play? does the truss rod move?

Does anyone know if white is rare for 95??

I wouldn't worry about the chip near the truss rod.  Those areas are prone to excess paint build and makes it hard to get the wrench in.

Looks good to me...!

Yes it plays really well, I'm very pleased with it. Was really amusing to come home and try my Greco again, that thing's made of stone! Darn that was heavy, the Parker is like having a bird on your shoulders.

Yes the truss rod is movable.

Normally, I'm not keen on white guitars- but that is really striking, nice combo with the black hardware. Grats.
