Parker fans near Chicago?
« on: October 11, 2011, 01:43:16 PM »
Would any parker fans in the Chicago area (or Southern WI/NW Indiana) feel like showing off their Flys?  I would find it infinitely beneficial to get to hear and play one or more of the Fly varieties before I drop the cash and order one without ever playing one. I know of none in stock at any area stores.
I guess a point in that direction would be appreciated as well.

Does my ear prefer one model to another?  Does the upper horn issue exist with my playing style?

there's a few places within a few hours, though I don't remember which anymore now that I'm not in Chicago.

or you could just buy one from musician's friend try it for 30 days and return if you don't like it.

I'm about 3.5 hours south of Chicago (about 2 hours west of Indy) if you're ever down this way, I'd be happy to let you try out my Fly Deluxe.

I'm in the middle of a remodeling project, but I've got a Fly Deluxe, Fly Classic, Nitefly, and southern Nitefly.  I'm about 30 min. from the loop.  I'm also going to be out of town for two weeks on business starting the middle of next week. We might be able to work something out though.

Thanks, David! Keep me posted!

I called all local dealers; none have any Flys in stock.

I'm up here in Canada but my map shows the factory is only about 60 kms or 40 miles north of Chicago... Maybe they would let you come up and try a few?

And a bunch of other guitars that aren't getting played any more...

I think you can probably take metra/amtrak to milwaukee for about $20, I seem to recall a place that had the parker logo in the window.

I was there on biz a couple of years ago and didn't have time to stop but might be a cool trip this time of year with the foliage.

Yeah, I could ride my bike to the factory. I'm not working now; might just see if I can get hired setting up guitars for US Music, or do some other appropriate work.

Thanks for the Milwaukee tip; I'll check it out!
