[NGD] 2007 Southern NiteFly with Bareknuckles
« on: March 19, 2012, 07:56:49 PM »
Been very curious about Southern NiteFlys for a long time (I love Telecasters so I want to know what Parker's take on them would be like).

Finally found one I liked on eBay in "antique gold".

I *think* it's a 2007. The serial number is P0907751, which is a different format than other NiteFlys that I've seen (and the official FAQ).

It's also had the Seymour Duncans replaced with Bareknuckle Piledrivers. I don't have the Duncans to compare but I'm very pleased with the Piledrivers. Very high output with a mean bite. I mean, it's not hard to get pinch harmonics out of the neck pickup with the tone rolled all the way off.

It plays... well, it plays like a NiteFly. Exactly what I'm used to. Thicker, rounder neck than a Fly, but still fast and comfortable. The previous owner had flatwounds on it and, if there was ever any doubt in my mind, I can now be quite confident that I don't like flatwounds. So those came off in a hurry.

Couple more pics:

Very nice. I actually thought about giving the Pildedrivers a chance in one of my guitars. Would you say they are high-gain ready (I know the Youtube video..)?

Cheers

Definitely high-gain ready. They are still single coils, so expect to need a noise gate to tame things.
