Softly
« on: April 09, 2012, 10:55:13 AM »
I learned the most beautiful song the other day and it has been in my mind for weeks now. It is a song written in 1960 and Elvis Pressley sang it. It is called Softly. It is about a man lay dieing in a hospital bed and his wife is sitting by his side and has fallen asleep. And the words are his thoughts hoping that He'll pass away before she awakes and sees him go. It took me two dozen trys to get through it without breaking down in tears. The chords work so well together and the message is so beautiful I highly recommend you give it a try. You'll find it on chordie.com. You'll find a more merciful side that you never knew existed. Happy playing. Peace, David

The song indeed is beautiful.
Small correction, the full title of the song is:
Softly as I leave you
Lyrics:

The best known versions are by Matt Monroe and Frank Sinatra.
Originally it is Italian song.
