In case this is still an issue and if anybody is interested. Found this during my web search and I don't have a reason to doubt the info...

That's undoubtedly Mick who wrote that. It's genuine. All of what is on this link is completely accurate.

Thanks for clearing this up - by the way, this is what I said in an earlier thread. I am the happy owner of Bass number 143 from March, 2003.

I have a Parker FlyBass from March 2003 (serial # 0303292) in perfect condition.
Any idea how much it is worth?

Hmmm…  I have a Mojo Bass with a serial number 0303386.  I purchased it in 2007 at the recommendation of ChicagoKid (via these forums) from the Atlanta Bass Gallery.  I was always under the assumption that this was a later model Mojo Bass since I purchased it around the time they were discontinued.  From the information here, it sounds like it was made in 2003, but I thought the Mojo Bass wasn't introduced until 2004.  Can anyone offer some insight on this?

Hi there. Sharon, the Parker painter, says they were making the Mojo basses out in Wilmington. She was there with Mick and Ken when they were being made. I have one of these unique basses. SN: 0303369. Mick's information is spot on.

Can someone please provide the information that was originally linked to in the OP's first post?  The link is now dead.

I've seen Fly Basses with both 6 and 7 digit serial #'s.  Are the 7 digit the Wilmington basses, with the 6 digit being the USM basses?

Thanks!

As far as I can tell, the Wilmington-made Fly basses all start with the serial 03xxxxx; they were the FB4/FB5, and the Fly Bass Mojo (FB4/5 with EMG pickups). Those models continued to be made for a short while in the USM factory until the PB line of bases was introduced; then, the Fly Bass was a custom shop only thing.

The above info is based (pun intended) on digging through this forum, the catalogs, and the manuals.

 Happy to help!

If you’re on the fence about whether to buy one, I have one and I love it! Absolutely the most comfortable and consistent-sounding bass I’ve ever played.

Awesome!  Yeah, I've been looking into them for years.  I currently play a Warwick Dolphin Pro I and a Ritter.  However, I love my '94 Fly Deluxe, so I thought I might give the basses a try (the early FB4's, that is).

I don't play out a lot, so recording is what it would primarily end up being used for.  The piezo is very interesting to me.

Thanks again!

The piezo is definitely an interesting component; just like with the Fly guitar, you can dial in the piezo knob on the bass to give a little percussive element. The pan knob between the magnetic pickups is also rather different (at least in my experience), and takes a little getting used to, but it's a very versatile bass and plays like a dream. I play guitar, and only use my FB4 for recording.

How is the low end? Are they active/passive or just active?  Many thanks again for all of your insight into this!
