I met him! Ken Parker!!
« on: February 23, 2014, 06:26:19 PM »
So, we were dong the show in Boston MA, and the in house sound tech saw my guitar and mentioned Ken Parker lived in the area, so i figured, bugger it, why the hell not, and sent Ken an email inviting him to the show, and i'll be blowed if he didn't take me up on the offer!
Really nice bloke, very full of life, and had a great chat afterward! Gotta love this life sometimes..

That's awesome!

I'd be almost embarrassed to meet him after a show with my DF!  Kinda sacrilegious!

Great shot by the way!

Nah, didn't ask him to sign the guitar, didn't have a white paint pen handy .. anyway i use the thing all the time, how's a signature going to last?
He had a bit of a look at how the guitar was wearing, given it's been gigged for almost 20 years now, but you know, he's got his own thing happening with his handmade arch tops (which you gotta check out if you haven't seen them, google is ur friend) and he was off to Miami to spruke his wares to some of the top guitarists in the world etc.
i got the feeling that Parker Fly's were a past chapter that he has moved on from, which is fair enough and something i think worth taking on board in life, you do stuff, you learn, you move on, etc etc.
Anyway, he gave me a parting hug, bless his cotton socks, and he really was a very fun and excited guy, and it's a another great memory i'll cherish.
So yo know kids, in order to make things happen, you actually gotta make them happen! Write that email, make that call, step out into the world, you never know...

Wow BS, how cool is that !!

And yes, you are the exact right Parker player to have this happen to.

I love that you both did that AND got the picture to share.

KP's archtops are incredible.

I am really getting into mandolin now. I would love for KP to design a mandolin with some of his archtop innovations.

Of course I could never afford one if he did but just knowing there was one out there would be cool.

That is very cool! *thumbs up*

Like that he did inspect the wear & tear of your guitar. As Bill said, you are the perfect person for this to happen too :)

Thanks for sharing!
