DF verses PDF gig bag
« on: October 28, 2014, 10:19:52 AM »
Wondering if the DF series has a more heavy duty gig bag available than the one that comes standard with the PDF models?  If so, where is a good place to purchase one?

thanks

I bought one of each guitar, used, and each one had the same gig bag. I've bought 2 bags from eBay, also the same bag. Sometimes they come with a strap. I'll double check tonight, just in case I'm wrong. I really liked the original nightfly bag, if you can find one of those...

Good idea! I loved the bag that came with my 95 Fly Deluxe. That would work great for my purposes.

The original fly gig at wouldn't fit one of the new guitars, but the original nightfly one would!

Do yourself a favor and get a real hard case. Gig bags are dangerous. Cases are cheap insurance.

That's my opinion anyway.

Cases are cheap insurance.

That is so true!
Gig bags are great for walking gigs, though, and if you have to take the subway, they are really great!
In all my time in NYC I only saw one local guy playing a Parker, though, and he had a hard case.

Even with a walking gig, an accident can happen that will cause your precious guitar to get dropped or banged - perhaps even destroyed. It only takes a frighteningly small second for that guitar in the gig bag to hit the ground - you will have time enough to say "Oh sh" and the rest of that word would be accompanied by the sound of cracking wood.

A gig bag offers minimal protection, a real case is better, a flight case is best.

I believe "Gig Bag" is a term invented by instrument companies to con you into accepting something that costs the manufacturer something less to produce.
