Just for clarification: If you put the Cab Clone between your head and your cab it's a different story. You get a pretty useful (albeit totally dry) signal to mix with your miked amp sound that way. It's the benefit of capturing the real response of your speakers when the Cab Clone isn't used as a dummy load. Without a speaker it works okay for cleans and some pushed cleans in the open back setting but not really anywhere beyond that as it gets barky and compressed.
