And who has $3k-$7k to buy a Parker on amazon?

7K is extreme, but honestly I don't think $4,000 is out of line. If I were a gigging bassist, I'd be considering it at 4K.

Have you seen how much a Fodera bass runs? The deposit for one is $1000, and won't cover 25% of even the most basic model.

These are world class professional level instruments we're talking about here.  :)
(Ignoring the QC issues of USM, of course. Truly unacceptable is the cheap hardware/electronics they used, especially switches)

I've been looking at getting a short scale bass lately...

Even my Hofner Shorty weighs in close to seven.

You already have a travel bass? Or is that the Shorty guitar?

I think 7 pounds is fairly lightweight territory for basses unless you want to go true minimalist:

Hofner Shorty is a single coil six string.

And yes almost 8 lbs is light for a bass but still heavy to my now spoiled Parker neck and shoulders.

I've noticed short scale basses tend to be <10lbs and since it's just to mess around with I want a lightweight.

Hofner Shorty is a single coil six string.

It's also a 4-string bass, but I guess not light enough...

I'd rather buy 2 $2k basses as opposed to one single $4k bass.

Ok!.... I didn't know that these were made.

30" scale 40" OAL  ~7lbs.    perfect for my needs....the forum comes through again.
Root beer.

Reverb $199+

$50 more than a six string.
I've had the six string for five years and it's a decent tag-along rig for car travel especially.

Thanks for the heads up Syber.

Be careful if you carry it in the gig bag it looks lethal to the untrained eye and most city folk.

Thanks for the heads up Syber.

My pleasure. A matched pair of Shortys sounds fun.

That's what I'm thinking.
I'll sew both gig bags together with closed cell foam sandwiched between for a tidy travel duo.

Ibanez makes a double gig bag. I think Peavey too.

There is a nice 5 string Parker bass on reverb for $1600. I be all over it if it wasn't red.
