MIDI modding Fly's...
« on: March 22, 2016, 01:38:35 PM »
...is something I enjoy! Roland GK, Graphtech, or RMC.

Here are a few I have done recently for forum members, though I have done many more (including Fly's, Nitefly's, and other guitars, even several nylon and metal string ukuleles!):

Here is a Deluxe with Graphtech acoustic and midi mods (utilizing Roland GK s1/s2 switches) with custom heavy duty switches and PTP re-wire:

Here is a Dragonfly with the same Graphtech mods and Roland switch mod:

Here is a white Deluxe with a GK-3 mod, retaining the original pre-refined ribbon electronics, RMC metal jackplate instead of the plastic Roland one:

Here is a pre-refined Deluxe with a Point to Point rewire (push pull tone knob splits both humbuckers), and Graphtech Hexpander only mod:

Here is a Stealth that got a GK3 mod, though after this pic it also for an RMC mod (DUAL MIDI FLY!!!):

I also did a Classic with an RMC mod, and a 6-way Freeway switch for the humbuckers, pretty complicated wiring, and that one got a custom backplate, pretty cool - too bad I can't find a picture of that one!!!

I'll see if I can find pics of others I have done...

Cool man!
I see now why you had so many parts for sale awhile back.

I have some great pics of several of these.
The most exciting part of them is that you have to learn to use the guitar all over again.

Once I mock up a pic with the controls labeled I'll post some pics.

Dayn, do you remember what pickups are in the stealth?

If I remember correctly, I believe they are a set of Hybrid Seymour Duncans that I got from Alex (908ssp) - maybe a 59/Custom in the bridge and a Jazz/59 in the neck, not exactly sure which hybrid coils are in each.

I want to point out that the black Fly with the paint chip under the 13-pin plate was that way before I sent it to Dayn. You can tell the previous owner both played it a ton and never heard of a paint pen.

I actually prefer Fly's that have a ding or two, just play them without worrying about it!

(Though I would use a black pint pen like you!)

There's no 'b' in plum (fruit or color). "I found a plum stuck in the plumbing."  8)
