PM20 Gator hard case model?
« on: April 18, 2016, 01:22:26 PM »
Hi,

The model mentioned back in 2005-2007 is no longer manufactured. What case should I buy for my guitar?

I've got a hard case that fits a Les Paul for my PM20 Pro.
Hiscox most likely makes one too.

Hiscoxcases.com has info.

I took the guitar with me in a gig bag and found one that fitted it at my local MusicGoRound.

Selection is key.

Guitar Center has many.

Pawn shops can have extra cases, and they will deal for cash.

MusicGoRound has deals that aren't on their website lots of times.

Sometimes thrift stores but that's rare.

The 24v will not fit the case I have, because there is too much wood at the joint. But the pm20 has much less and will fit the ones made for the single cut.

I think.

When I bought my PM20 (used) it came in a Les Paul hard shell case. It fit well enough to give it protection but if I recall correctly it was not very snug especially in the length. The head stock had lots of space around it.

I eventually found a Parker padded gig bag on eBay and it is a perfect fit, light, and offers very good protection for everything but heavy gigging use. I recommend looking for one.

Case length is a problem but I'll throw a small towel or rag in to take up space, add padding and to wipe down with.

Keeping a wiping cloth with your guitars is always a good idea. A quick wipe after playing gets rid of the sweat and dirt before it has a chance to build up and corrode your strings and gum up the frets.  ;)

As for filling the space you could consider making a custom filler of Styrofoam (a bit messy but you can seal it afterwards) or a stiff rubber foam. Either would be more solid and reliable than a cloth which can shift and put the headstock at risk of damage.

bought this hardcase from Gator brand : http://www.gatorcases.com/p/16134-1274/gc-elec-xl

Fit perfectly inside.
I'm pretty sure that this model will work (mine got plenty of room near the headstock of the guitar) : http://www.gatorcases.com/p/16134-808/gc-electric-a

My PM20 Pro is the 3x3 headstock so "normal" LP cases work for it.

A fender molded chainsaw type case worked perfectly for my pm 20pro
