Quick question nitefly neck screw thread pitch and length
« on: June 16, 2016, 07:47:06 PM »
Can anyone tell me the thread pitch and length of a first generation nitefly?  I'm guessing it could be 10-32, but I could be wrong.  I don't have access to the neck or else I'd just bring it to a hardware store.  Thanks

I'll try to remember to pull one when I get home tonight. I should have a tap that fits to confirm.

Well, crap. I don't have ANSI taps/dies down that low, smallest is 1/4-20. I mostly work on Japanese cars and European and Japanese motorcycles...

I think you're right with 10-32, though. I took some measurements, and the major diameter is spot on for a 10-24 or 10-32 pitch screw. Sure doesn't look 10-24, and I counted about 32 threads over an inch. Major Diameter is exactly 3/16." Length is exactly 1 5/8" tip of the head to the bottom. The head/taper is about 3/16" long. Screw taken from a 97 Nitefly.

Let me know if you need any more. Keep us updated on the project!

Right on. The luthier said it was finished today. So I'll have to show everyone how it came out next week. Took a 2015 nitefly radial and put a 1st Gen nitefly neck on it.  Mind you it wasn't without some modification.

it was cool. Just picked up this afternoon.  I'll try and remember how to do the photobucket and start a new thread. Worked out great.
