Dragonfly Pickup Replacement
« on: October 03, 2016, 12:48:24 PM »
I have a rare, if not one-off, Dragonfly 124  that I'd like to replace the pickups (active EMGs HSS). I *think* I can use any standard-sized replacement pickups (humbucker, single coil), but I wonder if anyone reading here can *confirm* that I can. I'm thinking about TV Jones for a greater rockabilly tone.

Thanks!

Assuming yours is the same as a DF524/624/724, it should take any standard single coil or bucker. The biggest issue is pup height; these bodies are thin enough that any pickup taller than standard may cause problems. I went to replace the singles in mine with Zexcoil noiseless ones and they don't fit; at an inch high they're too tall (as are other stacked single coils). Likewise, you may have trouble with taller than normal buckers like some Rio Grandes. but other than that you should be fine.

Excellent advice. Thank you very much! (considering TV Jones...)
