PDF30 Tuners
« on: November 30, 2016, 03:20:30 AM »
Hi guys, I searched around for answers to my question, but I was unable to find an answer.

I have a PDF 30 (I know the bottom of the barrel model) but it's honestly my favorite guitar, I have done quite a few modifications (Dimarzio John Petrucci pickups, Dual coil split, dual orange drop tone for normal/split routed to a toggle switch, Treble bleed) and now I really want to upgrade the tuners, I was going to go with    Sperzel Trim-lok Tuners 6-in-line, but I would have to drill in set pin holes and leave holes from the original tuners.

My question, is there a good locking tuner that is a direct replacement that uses the existing hardware mounting screw holes? I just want to remove the old which seem to be slipping a bit and have gaps for a quality set that will give me great fine tuning ability.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I'd look at a set of Wilkinson EZ lok tuners since the string height can be staggered easily.
I think they require 10mm holes but that's not difficult to remedy.

WILKINSON EZ-LOCK aren't really locking tuners like the pdf ones are. Pdf doesn't require staggering, so not sure why you would need that. Non staggered is what stock pdf are already.

true, EZ lok are not twist lock design but they are simple and work well.
I wasn't certain the PDF's were staggered since I haven't played the 105 lately but it was worth a mention just in case.

Good call though,  as they are similarly priced. They would probably work just fine. The OP doesn't really say what type of locking they were after.
