Wiring Help
« on: April 11, 2017, 10:30:36 AM »
Ok guys here is exactly how limited I am on wiring smarts. I basically want to wire my fly with the original configuration. Basically neck, then neck and bridge inner coils, then bridge. I know I need a 4dpt switch. But I just need to figure out the grounding. Well and the wiring. The Dimarzio site was good but it left the switch ungrounded and the pick ups ungrounded. So if anyone has any help etc that would be awesome.
I have guitars, most are beyond my playing level, but I love them all!

There's quite a few bits of wiring info around...but for a start..

Are you wiring without pre-amp board, using DiMarzzio's?

Yep no pre amp and they are dimarzios. There are actually not a lot wiring diagrams for this, which is very odd. I have found 4 in a few days of searching. Dimarzios website has one, but is missing where the grounding would go. Then I've found a few others. But 1 Volume 1 tone two humbuckers with the middle position being both inner coils is not an easy find. Really I just need to know where the grounding wires go and where they go on the 4DPT switch.

Ground points on switches and pickups are usually pretty obvious, aren't they? Is that what you're talking about?

OK, well can't find the schematic/diagrams in here ATM, so...

Looking at the back of the switch, the ground point is from the bottom left hand solder tab, where the neck black wire attaches to.

x marks the spot! (the little lines dashes indicate the bridged connections)

                  0   0  0
                       l
  To Vol <--  0--0  0

                   0  0--0
                       l
Ground<--   x--0   0

And here's the messy handrawn version:

There you go!
