Good solution for missing NiteFly "Bridge Balls"
« on: August 21, 2017, 04:44:47 PM »
Gents,
A friend has a nitefly and several of the little balls that are used on the bridge were missing. This seems to be a common problem, and I know Parker changed the way they made that bridge pretty quickly. If you have one, that fact doesn't help much. He was looking at hundreds of dollars for replacement graphtech saddles and preamp and then I happened to find this on the great "Dave's World of Fun Stuff" video channel.

Hope this helps everyone who has these wacky bridges avoid replacing them.
Cheers!

I like Dave's World of fun stuff. :)
2004 Fly Mojo Flame (TTBB), 2014 Fly Mojo Flame (TBB), 2001 Customized Midifly (w/Tripleplay), 2001 HSS Swamp Ash Nitefly SA (NFVSA/SB), 2000 Mahogany Nitefly (NFVM/TR), 2007 Southern Nitefly (BS), mostly all modded, Bareknuckle pickups, and also a "needs work" shagged 97 Maple Nitefly...

cool!

Just wanted to add that you can use the graphtech saddles with the other preamps.  So not the end of the world/expensive/woe is me repair it seems to be for your friend.  You can get a set for not too much on ebay.

Of all the parker stuff from the early days, that double ball saddle design was nuts.  Pun sort of intended.

Anyone having decent success with the crazy glue glue-in for the ball-bearings? Cyanoacrylate can be brittle ...

How's about a loctite product?
There are multiple types and some may be flexible while still being adhesive.

After looking at Daves World...
I wonder if the physical attachment by swagging isn't most accurate in terms of harmonic transmission than a glue bond would be.
A bond could muffle or dampen harmonics.
Acoustically speaking oftentimes less is more.
Is there any way to re-swage the pocket?

Cheers!
