P38 noisy piezo pickup
« on: November 22, 2017, 04:46:46 PM »
Has anybody got advice on how to resolve noisy piezo pickup. Bought a P38 and the magnetic pickup are fine but soon as I switch to the piezo it starts to crackle and after a few minutes it unplayable, there's crackling even when not hitting strings? Tried an anti static cloth which the local guitar shop tech suggested. It seemed to stop but not for long before the crackling noise began again. Any thoughts anyone?

You might have some crud between the saddle and the bridge. Not too hard to remove them and gently clean things up.

Also check your battery.

Failing that, you might have a failing saddle, preamp, pot, switch, etc.

But sounds mostly like a saddle problem to me.

If it is a failing saddle you can replace them with either ebay parts that turn up sometimes or new graphtech saddles made for parker.  Good luck!

If it gets worse the longer you used it, then yes it’s probably battery related as it drains power.

Also if you are using a Y cable, try swapping the output cable jacks and see if the problem swaps to the mags. If so, it’s one half of your Y cable.
