Partly broken bushing is not to come out
« on: December 01, 2017, 06:15:39 AM »
Hi

So that happened, like million times if to read this forum :o
Mine was broken years ago but I decided to use the trem a lot from now. Though it's possible to use, bushing is still there but not the top of it. Bushing slowly comes to be worn out.
Btw I am amazed how good it's designed and is stable in tuning in floating mode. I use some graphited oil made myself for nuts.
This is PDF85 but I assume there are no differences between many models (flys, pdfs) about this bushing thing.
I'm going to make a new one by myself from a quality nilon.
But I can't take the partly broken out of there. Like it is glued or press-fit hard.

Questions I'd like to be solved:

1) did somebody face with the same problem? I mean the difficulties in taking in out? How to take it out with no damage to the bridge?

2) Can somebody help me with exact measures of bushing? So I will start to make it before success in taking in out...

Thank you.

I believe this is what will work:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-8-in-x-1-in-Nylon-Spacer-815118/204276577

Info taken from this post:

http://forums.parkerguitars.com/index.php/topic,15992.0.html

As far a s getting the old one out...i'd try very carefully drilling/cutting/scraping/poking and just generally playing with it until it breaks up enough to come out.

Or maybe screw a self tapping wood screw in a little and pull it out etc.

Cheers

Hmmm...no idea why that would happen.

Anyway, try going to www.homedepot.com and put this into the search bar:

3/8 in. x 1 in. Nylon Spacer

That should take you to the page.

However there's really not much to see apart from a little nylon cylinder thing..anyway, something like that is what will work.

Perhaps you are in the wrong geographical region for viewing that. Where are you?

I am in Kiev, Ukraine.
But I don't have problems in viewing sites...
This one I tried from different computers, different browsers, no luck.
I wonder why that site could be restricted for ukraine lol.

Well I will write to some buyer of those bushings on ebay to give me exact measures

I think I bought one of those nylon bushings just in case.  I will measure when I get a chance and post.

But, you already have most of the info- the OD is 3/8", the length is 1", you just need the ID, which should be very near the OD of your bar.

Another approach which occurred to me as I was typing is to see if you can use an Ibanez arm bushing and the matching arm.  Or some other brand.

Not sure what the mounting hole diameter is, or if the base thickness will line up, but I always liked the way the Ibanez arms snapped in.
