Any tips for tightening output jack?
« on: January 01, 2018, 03:21:51 PM »
My 1994 Fly has a loosish jack.  It doesn't grip well, and if I use a straight plug it sometimes slips out 1/4 inch or so and interrupts the signal.

I've read all about the various jack-substitution/replacement hacks, but someone referred to a method of using some tool to re-bend a tab inside the jack?  I looked for it but couldn't find it.

I'm prepared to replace the jack with the Fishman Switchjack if I have to, but would rather keep the guitar original if I can.

You might want to just try a different cable.  I've had some that don't stay in well and others that work great, without doing anything to the jack.

My nitefly had a jack issue once. I used my fingers to bend it, I don't think a tool is necessary. But if it is, surely a pair of needle-nosed pliers (or two) would do the trick?

I think the Nitefly has a 'normal' jack with exposed metal tabs.  The Flys had a steel barrel type where everything's inside: http://forums.parkerguitars.com/index.php?topic=13982.0

Ah yes, you’re right that’s completely different to the new Nitefly jack.
