Paint to repair a Fly '97 purple
« on: January 24, 2018, 11:53:50 AM »
Hi all,

I have a '97 Fly Deluxe in purple color. I think the name is Italian Plum.
As far as I know, in that period, Parker was using PPG automotive paints. Can anybody help me to get the paint color reference or at least which family of paints were used.

Thanks a lot!!

You can try contacting Sharron at Shazrock.  She would have all that data.  best to call, email is not always answered.

According to the Parker FAQ page:

Parker proudly uses PPG paints. To locate your nearest PPG retailer please call PPG at: (440)-572-6111. The local dealer will find Parker Guitars listed in their computer system’s "Fleet colors" list. Our colors are stored by name: Emerald Green, Ruby Red, etc. top

Or you could refer to this handy chart:

I believe these are ppg hok base color paints, which get a clear top coat.

Hey Juaquin - did you have any luck tracking down touchup paint for your guitar?  It just so happens I've acquired an Italian Plum Fly with some chips of its own, and I'd like to get my hands on a little bottle of the stuff for repair.

No luck yet. I am out of the States so can't phone to Sharon. I have sent emails to Shazrock and to PPG but still no answer. The code 52774 on the information provided by Billy is not included in the databases I could check online. If you are based in USA it could be great if you phone to Sharon

I'm in Canada but could call Shazrock.  Not sure from their website where they're located.  Do they sell touchup paint?  It looks like they just do custom work if you send them your guitar?

that code is for ppg dealers only- if you give them the code, it will give them the formula to mix it.

Posted the chart because it may not be easy for them to find- its listed as international, also by year.  Without that info, it probably wouldn't turn up without extensive searching.

They are in Milwaukee (WI). Highly recommended -- Sharon did a great job on my refinishing.

FWIW, some PPG dealers offer a paint pen/marker mixed to match (with the code).  Should make it easy to touch up small stuff.  Probably $15-20.

I doubt Shazrock will offer touch up paint, but you never know.
