That was my original understanding-- none of the pickups are physically upside down or reversed, but the wiring allows it to be in phase and hum canceling in the center position.

But what I dont get, assuming that is correct, is why other Dimarzio guitars with coil taps arent wired that way.

I think many are. It all depends on the types of switch you have.  The 3 way that parker used is very expensive.  Many 5 way switches allow for similar configs.

None of the wiring diagrams on DiMarzio's website show that configuration.

First, many thanks to big swifty for the in depth research and info.

There’s a lot of info if you google something like “humbucker inner coils vs outer coils.”  Even YouTube demos comparing the sounds.

I’m not sure why dimarzio would be any different than other brands aside from wire colors. Plenty of cross reference stuff available too.

Regardless, there’s still a number of variables at play. Imho Parker adjusted things a bit to avoid phase cancellation issues with the pcb, per swifty’s post.

I think I understand the question a bit better now.  The reason for the specific Parker wiring is due to the 4 pole switch. You can get the inner coils config with other switch combos.  However,  if you want that config with a. LP style switch, then you need the 4 pole with that wiring.  If you can add a mini toggle or a 5 way blade,  the are other ways to do it. Remember this was BEFORE the freeway switches were available.

Does this help?

Hmmm, you know you guys might actually be right..

A bit of head scratching and drawing...

I take it all back, the pups aren't rotated with regards to one another, dunno where i got that idea from...and i was so convinced too...

So yes, here's the rough sketch, switch at top, switch logic at middle posi, pup diagram at bottom. BR means bridge red etc.

And yes, with the pickups both orientated the same way, middle posi gives inside coils out of phase.

There, glad you guys cleared that up for me!...

B.S.

Although...you know it sure does look as if they are, just by looking at the neck one...just go by the logo, i guess..

I bought a Schatten Polarity Tester to confirm.  Will accept PayPal donations towards this research!

Neither pickup is upside down.  Neither pickup has the magnets reversed.
