Later Fly Mojo Trussrod
« on: August 13, 2018, 05:40:12 AM »
Hi everyone,

I have read this forum for a while but not posted before.
I am looking to purchase a USA fly mojo from the online side of a brick and mortar store.  Everything seems fine about the instrument (carbon fiber board, wrap, wiring etc..), except the location of the trussrod has me puzzled.  To my knowledge all of the fly models had the trussrod straight on from the end by the serial numbers, however this one has the truss rod on the top with a cover like a strat or lp.  The store believes this is a 2011 model.  Was this something that changed in the later years before the headstock shape changed?

Thank you for your assistance.

I think I have seen this before. But I'm no expert, I'm new to the Fly as well.

It is what it is. That must have been one of the first to receive the straight-through version of the rod.

The prerefined flys have an offset truss wire.

USM went to a traditional truss rod down the center around 2010 or so iirc. I think this headstock shape made the truss access a little less easy but adjusting the rod should be very rare anyway.

If there are no issues, probably a good buy- you just need a truss cover! ;)
