Pre-refined output jack
« on: August 08, 2019, 01:40:40 PM »

I have a lovely pre-refined deluxe hardtail with one annoying issue: the output jack doesn't seem to take the cable with a secure fit and will, over time, push the cable out causing an intermittent. This, obviously, prevents this guitar from being giggable. All of the wiring is original, and I'd like to be able to preserve as much as possible. Is this a common issue? Does anyone know of a luthier in the NYC area who might be able to fix it? Is it possible there is a fix that doesn't require replacing the jack?

You might be able to handle this yourself quite easily.
Remove the back plate and rest the position of the nut holding the jack in place.  You'll have to pocket a bit the outer bushing (the plug in which you actually put your cable jack).
It sometimes happen that the bushing unscrews slighting, moving the jack deeper into the guitar and preventing the 1/4" plug form reaching far enough inside the hole.
