I wish we could all hang out-Parker Convention????
« on: January 01, 2007, 12:58:34 PM »
Wouldn't it be cool to meet everyone here in person & have a big jam?

This is the only forum that I have been on for any amount of time where I actually like the people.  I am sure if I hung out with many of you that we would become friends.

There are some really nice folks on this forum & I am grateful.

Sometimes I am having a bad day & I jump on here & there is always a positive environment provided by everyone, & even when a controversial comment is made you hear reason from the members instead of shouting.

I would love to meet you guys some time & I wanted to plant the seed of maybe getting together.

I know that we are from all over the globe but it could be possible to have a convention.  Or how 'bout, we all schedule a time to go and take a tour of the Parker Factory?

Or maybe we could set a time for a bunch of us to check out what Jamie (Chicago Kid) has in stock and buy some guitars from him?

Another thought that I had was to meet during NAMM 2008.  The Namm in 2007 is the 18-19th of January & I have a few friends that are going.  I might be able to go next year.

Any thoughts?

Regardless, you guys are great & I am thankful to be able to come here and talk about guitars and stuff.  [:)][:)][:)][:)]

Ditto to much of what your proposing Peter. I for one have been pretty shocked when looking at the Parker pictures and seen what people really look like! Very different from what I ever imagined! [:D] I think we represent a pretty varied variety of players, tastes, ages and styles! It would be hoot to meet! [:0] Some of you who live in concentrated areas probably could get together! I don't think I've heard of or met anyone from Montana! I might be the only Parker player in these parts! It's cold and lonely here! [:(]

Maybe a convention is the way to go.  We may even be able to get some support from Parker.  We could do it in Chicago.

The thing about NAMM is that it is not for pedestrians.  It is for retailers in the instrument business.  Due to that, in order to go you have to be working for, endorsed by or somehow affilliated with a vendor within the convention in order to be able to get in.  For that reason, maybe meeting at NAMM is a bad idea-I should have thought about that before I mentioned it.2001 Parker Deluxe

Actually, if Parker was behind it, we could get NAMM Visitors badges. Just have to preregister. I think ultimately, it'd be fun to do it around a NAMM show. It's SUCH a spectacle - an AMAZING amount of gear there. We could hold the world's largest Parker Guitar jam outside - play Louie Louie or something. OK, so there aren't that many of us. I think that if everyone were to put the money and energy into traveling, a place like NAMM would provide enough things to do that no one would be bored. OK, I admit it. I happen to be at EVERY NAMM show. Maybe summer NAMM in Austin? That's the second into the third week in July.

It WOULD be great to meet everyone here.

Well, if they could do it for Harp Guitars...

BTW Bob, scroll down and check out Mike Doolin's 13 string archtop harp guitar. Heard it at the Newport Guitar Festival and it sounded sweet!

I'd love to see Texas and Namm. Bob be sure to check out Martone playing at the winter Namm. He's a shred guy but I'm sure you'll appreciate it. I WISH i could go see it there.

I have been to national car club conventions in the past and it takes a ton of work and dedication to pull off a successful event. But that isn't to say it can't be done only don't volunteer if you think it will be a piece of cake.

That old fogie warning out of the way. Chicago and a trip to the factory would be great but think what an upset 20 or more people showing up at the factory would be. Chicago has a blues festival too that would be pretty cool.

We're all pretty lucky to have this forum that's for sure.
