Direct box for the piezo through PA?
« on: January 11, 2007, 06:55:37 PM »
Does anyone currently run something like an LR Baggs para DI box straight into the PA live with the piezo? I was thinking about tossing a little reverb/delay pedal then straight into the DI at a show, either with the Y cable or just to use on its own. Just wondering if anyone had any advice before I took that step. Thanks.

I've run both my Parkers straight into a PA. Only had to use direct boxes recently because of some ground loop issues with our church system. I only use them if I have to. The piezo side has plenty of output on both my P-36 and Fly Classic. We have a variety of direct boxes that we use, I can't tell any difference from one brand to another. Maybe someone else can tell the difference, but I can't. But then I rarely hear the house sound. I care more about the stage sound and what I have to play to! [^]

I can relate! I am a church musician, too, just not right at the moment.

I have a P38 and put it straight thru the PA at gigs every weekend. I have found that if you use a Digitech effects unit for a clean / chorused effect it's very good. You may find that it is too bright, but that can be trimmed off and rounded thru the PA. I have been talking to some of the fellas on the Equipment / Set Up section as I cant get decent crunch thru the Digitech effects box so may be upgrading to a Floor POD or a small valve amp for cabinet modelling.

Still thinking of ways to talk my wife into the thinking that I need more gear for gigs...
