Sorry, I had a NAMM wrapup here, but realized I posted it in the wrong place. Please see the NAMM 2007 post in the GENERAL section.

There's no date on that.  The guy also mentions Ken...Ken Parker never had anything to do with the forum.  He was long gone when the forum was started.  I believe John Page was the force behind putting up the forum in the first palce.  Also, there;s nothing wrong with the forum software, it's the server that seems to have problems.

The website was out of date years ago and gets further behind every day.  It does need a complete rewrite.

website - more vids like the marc seal ones, pics of each colour guitar (how long have we been asking for that?), interviews with Dann Glenn, Vince, German etc

it would practically write itself with the right enthusiastic people looking for mutual exposure

And I know just the guy to do it with great graphic appeal, easy te get around (unlike the current one) and accurate content.  All USM has to do is wake the heck up.

The site was down over the weekend due to issues with our service provider, not the quality of the forum software.

As far as site design, USM inherited the site when we purchased Parker and it was a brand new design then. The site is slated for redesign but that won't be for a while as we're working on other divisions that have older designs.

Content-wise, audio files, videos, & interviews would be great but we have to find the time to do it. There's where the problems start. This time of year we're gearing up for NAMM & the new models & catalogs. We'll be posting a thin bodied jazz guitar this week.

Aw, c'mon.  You gotta give us more than that!  Why not give us loyal forumites a bit of an inside scoop.  You can do it...

I know I can be a bit of a contrarian (boring[|)]),

but I like the web page. It has a comfortable, homey feel. Its actually easy to navigate and stay organized. I like its simplicity.

Sure it would be great to have some educational/promo demos but only if they can change weekly and that is labor intensive.

One of the reasons I think that we maintain a loyal forum that is a cut above[:I], is the lack of glitz and lack of sensory overload.

To the ADHD hyped up impulsive web cruiser looking to kill 30 seconds on his way to the next fasion craze, this site would just look too boring to hang around. This is the newspaper or radio of web sites as opposed to the Fox News or Today Show of web sites.

How's that for a boring overanalization. [|)][|)][|)]

PS I guess what everyone means is updating the main home page. Yeah, I can see that. I even forgot about it as it never changes so I never evn go there anymore. Someone let me know if they ever change it. Just leave the forum be.

And Web guy Bill--a thin bodied Jazzer? Real purdy wood with a thin posterior carbon exoskeleton, improved piezo's , exchangable pups, a zero fret, good naked acoustics but  born ready for the digital world? Not a chineese knock off?

Now you're talking.[;)]

I'm all for an overhaul... More hi-res photos of each color offered would be great. Proabably increase sales 5% right there. [;)] Although I can see both sides of the Forum side of things, I think something less archaic in appearance, nothing flashy, just elegant and a bit more 21st century rather than 1989. [:)] Having a 'who's here currently' feature, as someone brought up in another thread, would be awfully cool as well.

Even some kind of interactive Flash-based feature in the Custom Shop area where you could select base model, woods, colors, pickups, hardware, electronics, etc. and have your choices automatically appear on your prototype guitar right before your very eyes would be AWESOME! I'd venture to say that custom sales would be sure to increase... Although the level of national consumer indebtedness and bankruptcy would also rise proportionately. [:D] That would also at the very least increase general web traffic on the site and get alot more people spending quality time in the Custom Shop, drooling, coceting, and scheming of ways to purchase their next dream guitar. Now how couldn't Parker want that?

Well, that's my 2c...

Cheers.

If you live away from major cities the best contact is through the web.  Please spend some time updating.
I have played Parkers for 15 years or so.  It took me two years to find one after I read about them.  I took my first one home that day.  A few months later I bought a used hard tail and put a Roland midi pickup on.  Last year I upgraded it to the newer Roland GK.  It's still one of my favorites.
The only guitar I use as much is a Carvin SH575.  By the way it's 1k chaeper than the list on the new mojo midi which hasn't found it's way to the Parker site yet.   dave

And the website is still unchanged!  A web developer that takes two years to come up with a site is a former web developer.  Bob, more that most of us, you know how absurd that really is.

Yeah, they still exhibit the old (good) style headstocks for the Mojo SC and PM20 guitars. (and the PM20 models may now be defunct, to boot)

But let's not rattle their cage too vigorously. They may just entirely pull the plug outright, leaving us spinning individually out of control in cyberspace. Well, me, anyway.
