you want inspiration? I'll give you inspiration...
« on: January 24, 2007, 08:31:29 AM »
I own a few dozen music DVD's but this one blows me away everytime I watch it. I have followed them since they hit with their first mainstream cd back in '92. Love 'em or hate 'em (believe it or not some people do)
Do yourself a favor and get not only for the guitar player in you, but for the drummer in you, keyboard player in you, bass player in you, plain old musician in you.... Have I kept you in suspense long enough...?

DREAM THEATER - SCORE dvd

I don't have Score but I do have Live at Budokan and Metropolis - Scenes from New York.  They are both amazing.  Petrucci's playing gets me everytime.  I also invested in his teaching DVD and that is amazing as well. Unfortunately, I am no where near good enough to get the best out of it, but it is good to watch.

Got it and Budokan and Metropolis. A great band in many regards. I really enjoy Budokan but didn't like Score as much.

Alas some other hardcore DT fans. I am a nut and a fanatic when talking about John Petrucci. I think he is one of the best guitarists on the planet period. I have followed them since day one and they just get better with every year that goes by. I have seen them live many times and own everything they have released and I agree that Score is simply the best! Have you ever seen five guys more in tune with one another? Skill levels aside, they all inspire me to want to be a better musician. And to top it off playing with an orchestra live!!! Wow!! ok time for me to shut up.......

Cheers,

I cannot read this thread without posting...

Score is very impressive (to notice the beautiful MM JP prototype with the maple top).

Isn't that a beauty? The only thing I don't care for is those plastic rings around the pickups. I have heard that they re-thought the idea and are moving back towards the direct mount route.

having owned 3 Petrucci's w/piezo's and 2 Luke's w/piezo's (one of the Luke's was custom ordered and built for Jo Dee Messina the country artist and she never took delivery)
Having said that, I LOVE Ernie Ball guitars but the stainless frets and light weight of the Fly's have kept me in the Parker camp...
