Luthiers for Parker RMC midi pickup mods
« on: January 25, 2007, 07:21:13 AM »
I'm on the fence as to whether or not I want to mod my Fly Mojo to add RMC midi pickups. I emailed RMC(Richard McLish) and he informed me of 2 luthiers that do the mod on Parkers. For those interested, the contact info is as follows:

Gary Brawer in San Francisco CA    gary@brawer.com
Jim Kozel  Guitars in Bay Village OH   jimkozel@comcast.net

Gary Brawer is a very well known luthier in the Bay area who also does PLEK mods on guitars other than Parkers. Also, one of the builders, Jim Kozel, has a web page displaying his handiwork:

BTW, the prices for the parts quoted by RMC are:

1 set  Pow'r Bridge PF pickup saddles  ($300.MSRP) and
1      Poly-Drive 1 miniature polyphonic preamp ($350.MSRP)

I suspect that the builder may possibly be able to get you a discount on the parts(I believe that the late Axel Rudich used to offer a price lower than the expected total for labor plus MSRP). Of course, I couldn't promise that for any of the guys listed.

As you know, the recently announced Roland VG99 has me rethinking the notion of going back to midi pickups. If I do go ahead and do the mod, I'll be sure to let you guys know and also post pictures.
