Intruducing myself
« on: March 12, 2007, 03:58:44 AM »
Hi,

I introduce myself as requested by some members [:)]

I'm 37. living in south of France.
I play guitar since I'm 18.

I started to play professionnaly at 22 (and I'm still professionnal today).
I had lots of guitars then : Ibanez, Hohner, Guibson....

Then I had a Steinberger for 7 years.

In 96, during a tour in Switzerland, I tried a a new parker deluxe in a music shop. I felt in love with this guitar.

Over a year after (trying to save money for a Parker) I could buy my first Parker Deluxe : a Red one.

I started to be also interested by VG8. I bought a GK2A.

In 2003 I bought my second Deluxe (Grenn Emerald)and the VG88.

I started to have contact with Axel Rudich. I wanted a Sustainiac on my Red Deluxe. He prepared me the sustainiac in the same time he was doing the 3 Adian Belew's prototypes. I still have the mails Axel wrote me about that.
I was really proud and happy.

In 2004 I bought the Artist, already customised by Axel, in Israel.
The same year I had the luck to buy a Suprem (my dream !!!!!!!!). The suprem is a second hand from '01 (bought it in USA).

I started to loose interest in VG's. I sold them, and now I play on MesaBoogie Nomad 100W Combo. No effects at all. Pure sound !!!

I sold the Green Deluxe.

And last week I decided to sell my Red Deluxe Sustainiac Parker on Ebay :
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=003&sspagename=STRK%3AMESO%3AIT&viewitem=&item=130085435267&rd=1&rd=1

I did not know about Axel passing away.

The ebayer winner told me that. I had a lot of pain to send the Red Deluxe to his new owner...........

Well today I exclusively play on my Suprem on Mesa.
So I decided to sell the Artist too..........

JP

Ps : I have also another hobby :
http://www.planetfigure.com/blogs/avbench.php?name=3087

I participate to lots of european shows.
Axel knew about my painting hobby, and we were supposed to meet when I'll be ready to come to US Shows........ I guess it's too late..............

JP, Welcome to the forum! We are glad you are here. There has been a lot of discussion about different Axel modifications in other thread, that you may enjoy reading with your great experience with Axel. We were all sad to hear of his passing too. On a different note, what a beautiful guitar. And the sculptures and painting are quite amazing! I hope you stay around the forum, there are some great people hear with some incredible knowledge, amd some of us that just enjoy the conversation.

Because I reallised that my guitar direct to my Mesa Clean/Crunch gives me the best pleasure to play.

When I used midis, I spent too much time in programs.... and also in every different places I used to do concerts, my settings were differents. And it took me too long time to reajust settings.
Now with only the amp I get Power, Clean and enought Natural Compression in the Mesa. And easy and fast to reajust my settings.

I also reallised that with no effect at all (except a wha pedal) I can change the sound of my guitar only with my fingers.

How did you like the Sustainiac? Did you find that it added anything that you couldn't do with the midi? What sounds did you get with it?

Thanks,

Charlie

Well,

I missed the DiMarzio double coil. The sustainiac was in fact a single coil.
So as a normal guitar I did not like the soung of the sustainiac.
But the sustainiac effect is wonderfull.
Infinite sustain, with any sound and guitar configuration : Piezo or GK2A (any VG or GR sound).
That was great to play Gary Moore "Parisienne Walkway" in a restaurant (we did not play loud at all). Everybody was waiting to hear how I will keep long sustain as in the song. Not only I did it, but I could travel around tables (wireless) while keeping the sustain..........longuer than Moore himself lol

JP, that is brilliant.  I once read in an interview with Gary Moore that he used to get realy fed up with having to do that part of the song as he used to get e-mail from fans who would tell him that he didn't hold the sustain long enough and which concerts had the longest note etc etc.  With the sustainiac you could hold that note all evening!![:D]
