What amp for PM20
« on: March 18, 2007, 11:01:52 AM »
I will be getting a PM20 soon and I need another amp. I have a older Ibanez 15 watt practice amp but I would like a bigger amp. 30 or even maybe a 60. I like to play all kinds of music. country, rock, blues and a little Jazz. Any suggestions.

Well, the first questions that spring to mind are price-range, solid-state or tube, combo or half-stack, and perhaps if you want built-in effects.  And welcome to the forum!

Check this link out, I had one before I joined the Army:

I actually had the 2x12, and it had the best distortion I have ever heard out of a SS amp, and the effects sound incredible.  The clean channel is crystal clear, and like I mentioned before, the distortion is great.

Hey Bob-
I picked up one of the Ashdown Fallen Angel 60 watt heads for $299 NEW on eBay. It's an all-tube head, though the tubes weren't all that great (electro-harmonix). I spent $60 to upgrade them (sov-tek & svetlana), and I've got a clean channel that sounds very Plexi-ish with a serious Boogie overdrive, 16 on-board effects, and terriffic control at both bedroom volumes and 1000-seat venues. Check it out!
