Deluxe Single Two

Wow it sounds great. It took about two hours to get it in playable condition, enough said. So now my fingers are sore the thing sounds great. I am impressed and surprised. There is a very slight humm in the single coil positions but really hardly noticeable not at all while playing along with music. The pickups sound really sweet. I got the new issue of guitar player it has an instructional DVD teaching all of Jimi's Axis album with Andy Aledort instructing and playing the new JH JTM4/100 Marshall, my old blackface Bassman along with the S2 was doing a pretty good job of sounding like that. I can't wait to try it with my 1968 Marshall bass head and pre-rola greenbacks. I think I am going to really like this guitar. [;)][:D][:D]

I'll get pictures tomorrow I was just too busy today, sorry.

That and your stealth are the 2 in your collection that I most envy. [:p]

I suppose they're pretty rare - I don't see many photos of them.
(I was going to say I'd never seen one in France, but in fact I've never seen ANY Fly in France except mine (and Korean models)...)
Looking forward to pics...

Larry I was just gonna say that!

Alex do those single coils look like they would take a chrome cover like a Tele?

Man you guys its been a busy day and I just didn't get them yet sorry.[:I]

I did want to say that Scott the guy who sold me the S2 saw my comment above and called to offer some compensation. He called on his own which I feel is an exceptional act. I would not have complained anymore then I did above and had but it behind me so his calling is an upstanding thing to do. Thank you Scott. There are a lot of good people out there and we have more then our fair share on this board.

I'll get the pictures tomorrow I actually have a couple of things I want to do yet to make it my own.[;)]

This is one sweet guitar sound. I have never really been that fond of single coil guitars. Most all the guitars I have had in the past have been Gibsons and or at least humbuckers. The single coils I have had just never really did anything for me but this one is so nice. I have to say Parker really aught to consider getting this back into production. It really is a natural after all the guitar has Fender scale length and a tremolo. It's made from similar woods, alder and poplar aren't that different. I would even go so far as saying that they should introduce two a S2 and a S3 with three single coils. The single coils that Dimarzio has out today from all the reports I have heard are excellent with true hum free technology. The biggest problem is the 5 way switch mounting I can see it was an issue with the old electronics but the new PTP wiring would make it easier and the new switch positions would make access to the 5 way better. I am sure they could I know I could find a easier way to mount the switch then the old set up. [:D]

Alex

The only problem with most single-coil sized stacked humbuckers is that they're taller than most true single coil pickups. Why? Because of one coil stacked against another coil, hence the name.

No problem with a Strat and maybe with the NiteFly but I think most will have difficulty fitting in a Fly. [:(][xx(]

DiMarzio makes a "humbucker" called the Bluesbucker. The coil with the adjustable poles is the active one and the coil with the slugs (they're not magnetized) serves as a dummy coil just for the purpose of bucking hum. It does not sound like a single coil because the dummy coil adds its own inductance making the sound a bit mellower. Tone is closer to a P-90.

The same thing can be achieved by wiring a RWRP pickup installed somewhere else (meaning not under the strings) as a dummy pickup in series with the regular pickups. The hum coming from both the regular pickups and the dummy pickup cancel each other... but since the dummy coil is getting no signal from the strings the signal from the regular pickups goes through - a bit modified in tone because of the added inductance in series. I believe Van Halen used this trick with one of his Strats. BTW, ashtonshow, I bet,  will definitely NOT like this "crap".

Alex, if you search the forum you will probably find my post regarding that single coil split switch I installed on both my Deluxes. Start on the one to the left and work through them all [:D][:D]

Hey, how do you give all those guitars and amps equal time? I would never be able to sleep if I had all that in my house. (add a smiley face here too.

ENJOY!!!

Sounds killer, single coils are great, and tend to show off the character of the wood quite nicely.  Wish I could get a trans butterscotch ash fly with the Lace Alumitones I use in my strat, I bet it would sound amazing.
