"Here's To Ol' Willie"

Song "Here's To Ol' Willie", I wanted to try out my new Parker Fly bass, so here is the effort. First bass track try I played bass like a guitar-no good. Second bass track try I played a note each beat, worked better. I could cuss up one side and down another trying to get a mix to sound on the speakers like it sounds on headphones. Pre-bounce mix sounds ok on headphones and then on speakers as an mp3 or a .wav played on speakers it sounds off balance. This is the second mix try and it's too late at night to keep mixing. I think the lead guitar is a little too loud.

I've finally sorted the mp3 problem on my PC so I was able to listen to this track plus everything else you've done in the last six months. I really enjoyed the show and became increasingly fond of your original and quirky singing and songwriting.

The bass is a welcome addition rounding out the bottom nicely and I thought the mix was fine [I thought the guitar was too intrusive on 'Crossroads and 'go out tonight though, your vocals disappeared behind it at times in these two].

This track has a Lovin Spoonful feel about it which is alright by me, luv em. Your vocals stand out, you don't sound like anybody else {ditto lyrics]. I like your approach and I find your singing strangely beguiling.

This one and Limey Lads are my two favourites.
The only thing that exists is this moment now.

Limey Lad Yoyo, very good analysis of the songs. I agree with you except on the favorites part. I don't quite know which is my favorite. It's good to analyze (analyse for the Yanks) the songs to hopefully make improvements. My voice freaks me out too, just nothing I can do but live with it. The upside is someone told me what good does it do to sound like everybody else. I like the added bass, if I can figure out bass parts to put to future songs.
Took a long time to get the mp3 problem fixed on your computer.

I could use more bass in the mix. But that might just be these puny speakers.

Paul, click on the little arrow to download the mp3, then you should have some kind of software on your computer that will play an mp3. I can just double click on an mp3 and iTunes will play it.

doombilly, "Willie" does need more bass, I don't know why some of the bass notes drop out. I thought maybe my speakers would not play those low bass notes. The headphones I use must be good headphones because they reproduce more than my speakers. I need to get ProTools to play through my speakers when I mix.

I've noticed some equipment just doesn't represent bass sounds very well. When I go shopping for Near Fields that is something I am going to test out. I've been ghetto mixing through my PA as I have 4-15" speakers pointing at me. Actually I get it most of the way there with headphones. But mine don't represent the bass at all and $^%*&%$ in my ears for trying to judge reverb.
