My new rhino lined mojo
« on: June 26, 2007, 07:31:36 AM »
Finally got my new mojo from ChicagoKid/Jamie!  Much gratitude to him.  As for the subject - well, one friend commented that it looked like rhino lining (like pickup truck bedding), and the rhinomojo nickname has already stuck with band mates and friends.  I'll shut up now, all other commentary will be in a thread in the Fly forums.  :)

Pics were taken courtesy of Jamie, as I haven't had a chance to take any myself yet.  Without further adieu:

That finish is really unique, it kind of reminds me of the finish Ernie Ball was using on their Sub-1 guitars some time ago.  Does the finish affect the woods natural resonance at all?  Just curious...

Relative to other Parkers, I honestly couldn't tell you.  This is the only one I've ever played that wasn't just strumming a few chords after grabbing it off a music store wall.  Was very much a blind buy for me.

In and of itself, not one bit that I've noticed.  It's the best sounding guitar, all around, that I've ever put through my rig and makes my triple rectifier's clean channel not seem so worthless.  Every note rings out and resonates very strongly, sustain is terrific.  Whether or not it would be even better on a Mojo sans the rhino lining, I have no clue.  But compared to the rest of my guitars and others that I've played with under the same circumstances/gear, it's top notch.

Brett

Edit:  I'll try and get some decent sound clips up sometime this week, as well.

I had played an Ibanez with that type of texture, I really liked the look and feel of it. Didn't play like a Parker, though. It was a unique idea, congrats! I agree with Conflicted... go play.

Unique.

That's one of the greatest things about this guitar, but I'll let Brett explain this.  [:D]

BTW, Brett, my boss said the EXACT same thing about the Rhino lining. Pretty funny, huh?!

I think it looks cool just the way it is [8D]

But for a bit of in your face whimsey,

It would also look cool with a yellow/orange road dash lines down it indicating 2 way traffic like on asphalt down the highway [8D]

If it's like the Stealth finish, it's actually smooth but just looks that way. Am I on the right track?

Unlike the Stealth, this is not smooth and feels like petting a reptile of some sort. There's no top coat/gloss. It's just what you see. It's very interesting. Blew my mind!

I'm just saddened that a rhino had to be sacrificed in order to produce this guitar. What next?... Snake skin guitars?!?!?! Where will this all end?! [:0]
