Zoom A2 - Here's a GREAT deal!
« on: February 20, 2008, 10:13:26 PM »
Well, as much as I like the Roland KC-500 for the piezo side of my Flys they sound like, well, piezos.  After reading lots of posts lauding the Zoom A2, I started a search for deals.  Check this one out...
http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--ZOMA2
Note that there are 2 different prices, and a small disclaimer:

LIMITED TIME OFFER
"POP Display" item comes with a metal "point of purchase" attachment which can be removed.

Mine is on the way - I'll follow up once I've received it.

On the bay these are going for around 80 USED!  No shipping, no tax (unless you live in Jersey [:0][B)]), 60 day return policy.  But quantities are limited, so act now... [:p]

No, I'm not in any way affiliated with these people, just passing on a good deal.  [;)]

Too bad they're not MIDI controllable.  It would be SO cool to have the program switch based on the commands I'm sending to the Rocktron Taboo Twin (for mags).  [:p][8D]

I got a factory reconditioned model for 85 bucks. Great unit... Sounds very nice, and lots of effects options. Good bang for the buck.

You're welcome Dan!

I'm thrilled to see someone else took advantage of this deal.  [;)][8D]

I'll have mine tomorrow.  This seller is GREAT about communication.  If I would've noticed how low the upgraded freight charges were, I'd have done the same and gone with 2-day.  But since I don't have practice until Tuesday, Monday will suit me fine.  [:p][:D]

Cheers,

Larry

So Rickey, I'm assuming you got the A2-1.u, right?  It would seem to be the only way to upload or download any programming...

When I first fired it up, way too bright.  But I flipped to the back of the book to set the input and output types (shouldn't that have been the first step in the manual?), and once set for piezos - voila! Dang near magical, I'd say.

I still haven't gotten to play the keyboard amp with the band.  They'll all flip when they hear this baby!  Bwahahaha... [:p][:D]

Larry, The presets can't be downloaded. Rickey entered them by twisting dials to the 10 presets I had tweaked and posted. They are still around the board here, somewhere, if anyone wants em. The demo of each is still here too...#13;#10;#13;#10;Bob

Bob,

I've saved and printed out your tweaks, after giving them all a listen again.  (Did that last Sunday night in fact. [:)])  I haven't started making the changes in mine yet, but I may well.

As you can probably guess, fingerstyle ain't my bag.  (Many would say guitar ain't my bag! [:I][:o)][:(])  For the kind of strumming that it's going to be used for, the D-28, J-200 and J-45 are all the most likely to get used.  I'm SO happy with this unit just as it is.  (I've written one patch for my bandmate for a song I play bass on and he does a fingerpicked thing with 500ms of delay.  I set it for the J-45, because I thought that sounded best with his phrasing, but he prefers the D-28, so I'm going to have to redo that.  Just to let you know that I am technically capable of dialing in stuff on my own.  [:p])

Thanks to you Bob and all the forum members who highly recommended this amazing piece of gear.  [:D]  I'm totally happy with my sound now, though it's a LOT more stuff to tote to a gig.  (This purchase was predicated by my adding the Roland KC-500 keyboard amp, so now I'm bringing an extra amp, the Zoom, GR-30, ,JX-8P and JV-1010.  Who knows, after one gig the band may revolt and set me back to the one amp again.  [:0][B)][:o)])

Sorry Larry, I mis-phrased or gave the wrong impression. Bob is correct - The term download did not mean transfer data to the unit, but copy, pasted and then saved the info to my computer! [:I] I downloaded it in old world terms! [:D]
