Adam D of KSE and back ache
« on: March 12, 2008, 01:23:25 PM »
Rumour has it that Adam D of KSE (Killswitch Engage to the uninitiated!) has been seen using a black Fly on stage. Now recent news suggests that the extraordinarily talented man (drummer since age 10, majored in bass at Berklee, and now plays guitar for a living) had to quit last year's tour for a while due to back ache. Always something of an original thinker, could it be that Adam D has stumbled in the joys of Flydom due to a need for his Caparison chubbiness to lose a bit of weight? No douby he has also discovered that nothing plays like a Parker. This is also interesting because Adam tends to use drop D (nod to Prof Tabor) and drop C tunings. Wonder what gauges he's using? Metalcore on a Fly - it can be done![:o)]

i think you are onto something, I also thought it would have been adam D that would switch to a fly. although the caparison i have isnt that heavy compared to an ibanez or Jackson.

Its annoying that i cant find any photo's of him playing with one. If i watch them at wacken this year i shall take some photos

good stuff. Bet you like most Fly players it will take him some time to find out how good the Fly is and then he will be ours!!![}:)][:0][:D] Wahahahah.... By the way nice geetar that Applehorn, tried one at guitar guitar, nice cutting tone, then a mate of mine's student bought it. Now for $1649 he could have had......[;)]

aye, i fell in love with my fly the second i plugged it in and played it. Absolutely beautiful. Its nice to see that They have finally got a endorsee that is in the spotlight of hundreds of thousands of metalheads.

yup the applehorn has a lovely cutting tone, the neck is lovely on it, i use it alot for practicing as the chunkier neck helps me build strength in my hand more. And when i swap to the fly I'm well literally  flying on the fretboard! the guitar is expesive at $1649, so i'm glad i didnt pay any where near that price! i got it for $1200 new

The Fly is so verasatile I think it often gets overlooked as a metal axe! Shame, because the note articulation is amazing and the Fly can move some serious air in a closed back cab. Have you tried a touch of piezo on extreme overdrive, just a little can sound amazing and give the notes real attack[B)][:D]

ahh he's got emg's fitted to it! Adam D is a superb Showman. now equipped with a fly makes it even better. Cheers for posting that video, the search for proof is over! There's a few Metallers who have used Flys and some still use fly's, One of the guitarists to therion used a Emerald green deluxe for a while, Kirk hammett also has been known to use a fly in the studio. But my favorite is Jason Mendonca of Aker****e, he's a huge fly fan.

yea that's what I was aiming at...the big bulky pickup rings don't look like they belong there. Maybe an incentive for EMG to make some special parker pickups [;)]

Found a few pics of Adam with his EMG'd Fly

Shame it took back trouble for him to start using a fly. I'd take my fly over a Craparison anyday

I saw killswitch engage at the wacken open air festival in germany last weekend, adam D used his fly deluxe for the whole set, It was looking sexy! i'd choose a fly over a caparison anyday also, thats what i did also, I sold my caparison on a few weeks back.

Does anyone knw whether or not he has an 85 in the bridge? Since his sig model comes with an 81/85 configuration, im wondering whether Parker went with that config because of mass market appeal or whether Adam himself decided on that set. Im dying to knw lol :-p
