I'd say you are pretty close.  They are not the HiFi vintage Strat sounds, but you can certainly get close with a little EQ.  The Fly Deluxe body and neck that make up the S2 lend themselves to a very articulate sound.  The only  change I made was to remove the ceramic magnet from the bridge humbucker and replace it with an Alnico V magnet.  This opened up the pickup's tone a bit and made it more in keeping with the singles in terms of output and overall voicing.  I find the S2 to be an extremely versatile Fly. Dare I say that it may just be the most tonally versatile Fly ever made?  A wonderful guitar and I hope you get many happy hours with it.  Congratulations!

John

What a combination, what a great find! I'm so glad it is working out for you! [:D]  That slurping sound in the background is me drooling! [:p]

For some reason Simon, I think the white lines add something aesthetically pleasing to the guitar.  After you put the original knobs on there, the guitar is going to look fantastic.  Congrats on a really special purchase!

Looks terrific. Nice catch. The pickups on the S2 aren't constructed like your typical single coil they use bar magnets the normal single coil uses pole piece magnets. I did not have a typical guitar to compare it too so it is hard for me to judge the sound.

Simon, CONGRATULATIONS!  [:D][:D][:D]

I've been out of town on business, and in trying to get caught up I went looking for other threads on this.  No luck.  So do you mind either directing me to another thread, or filling in some info?  Who did the mods?  Where'd you find it?

Thanks for the info!
