Piezo problems
« on: June 06, 2008, 06:01:12 PM »
Hi all,

Last night I plugged in my Fly and switched on the piezos only to be surprised by no sound.

I put in a new battery - same thing
Then I opened her up and checked the piezo volume mini pot - made sure it was full up. Still no sound

Then I looked at the piezos on the bridge - no damage.
I then started fiddling with the strings and noticed some sound when playing the low E. Then I found that every time I moved the low E string  towards the upper bout the sound suddenly came on.  If I let the string go back the sound cut out.

I fooled with it like that and the sound would go on and off.
I then re-opened the back plate and checked connections - found nothing amiss that I could see - since I did that now the sound is back on all the time! (least for now)

What should I be checking for here? Obviously there's a connection cutting out. Pulling the low E string outward (grabbing it right next to the bridge) seems to have reconstructed the connection - at least temporarily.

Now what should I do? Take it to a dealer? It's new and at the price they go for there should be zero problems with it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

rather frustrated...
