While I am not a bassist, a good friend of mine uses David Eden amplifiers exclusively.  His tone is nothing short of amazing.  The first link is for the cabinet he uses, the second for the amplifier itself.

Trace Elliots are nice in my opinion. I've played through a Genz Benz that was incredibly good sounding.

I have good things about both of those companies, I was hoping that some here would have played with upper end SWRs. I will have to see if I can find Eden, Trace Elliot, and the SWRs in stock somewhere to try out. Thanks for the replies.

Just a follow up...I tried some of the above mentioned amps and they were pretty darned good. From my understanding either people like the SWR sound or they don't, I am one that does and I found a SWR Bass 750 for a good price used. I must say the Parker five through the Bass 750 is almost a dead on Operation Mindcrime bass tone (maybe a tad bit of drive through the front end for a perfect match) with all EQs flat. I am very pleased with it. Thanks for the sugestions.

I'll be checking out the Adrian Belew show in LA this week.  It will interesting to see what amp/cab configuration bassist Mike Gallagher is using.  I'll keep you posted how it "sounds". ;)

Mr. Terrien,

How did that show go, and did any Parkers grace the stage?

3 Parkers Total.  2 For Aido and 1 black 4 string for Mr. Mike Gallagher.  Yeah, he kicks ass.  I was really surprised by his chops.

The show ruled....Not overly "Crimmy" either.

It's not even describable how much better Adrian's sound is now that he can beat on his Parkers....He didn't return until the encore: Thela Hun Ginjeet

I'll get pix on my website soon!!
