That's freakin COOL[8D][8D][8D][8D]
I chopped an Ibanez Iceman and caught loads of sh*t from everyone and I don't care. Its' giant pen*s looking thing is ugly and in the way. I cut it off. It's really cool now. I cut a brass door-plate and made a pick-guard. I also made a really cool pick-guard for my Ibanez that is also really freakin cool and only cost me $5.00. I'll post a pics when I have time and figure out how.

I totally respect the purists views but hey, as stated above, wasn't the Fly a crazy design against the norm? Tell me a Parker looks "normal"? It isn't, which leads to the question, "what IS normal"?

How many of you have made changes to strings, springs, pick-ups? It's "okay" when Parker or a luthier makes changes to all of the above and electronics but not okay to alter the shape? What about color? Should we all play a Sunburst 69 Fender through a Fender twin Reverb?

Give the guy the respect he deserves. He made something that made/makes him happy and might in fact play better. What about Ken's beginnings?

I think Ken's tremolo is a radical, cool idea but what if it doesn't work as well for this guys' technique?

Good on you man!!!!
I love bold people and new thoughts. I can prove it! I just bought a Parker!!!

Being a Parker guy myself, I, of course, love the original shape.

However, I really like what you did.  Like others have said, it resembles a Klein, which I would love to have one of these days.  Unfortunately Steve Klein is making only a couple a year now, and is in poor health.  Poor guy.

We all get our Fly's to be unique - whether it's the weight, the look, the feel, the playability, the color selection, the name - whatever.  This dude just took it a step further, and I love it.  I'd like to see a Fernandez sustainer installed in this - it would really make it very otherworldly!

Thanks for your encouragements...
I'm making some last modifications on my Parker and I will try to make better pics and post them.
In the future, I will ask to a french luthier (Kopo) to make me the ultimate guitar.
It will be an acoustic/electric hybrid guitar (like Taylor T5) with Steinberger Gearless tuners and with 2 humbuckers + piezos + Roland GK3.
The shape will be at the crossroad to this :
http://buildingtheergonomicguitar.com/2007/11/mash-acoustic-guitar.html
http://buildingtheergonomicguitar.com/2008/01/koll-guitar-archtop.html
http://www.kopo.fr/g_electro.htm
I'd like to have a long scale, but not a baryton, just the exact scale to be tuned in d/g/c/f/a/d. The harmonic table and neck will be in carbon.
...appointment in 2 years (time to build the guitar and time for me to find the money...)

No offense to you Hakim.....but that guitar looks awful. It is in no way art but a ruined beauty. Surely the way the parker looks is one of the main reasons for buying this guitar?

My references are not so outdated, I prefer Picasso, Dali, Duchamp, Warhol...etc... than Leonard!

[:D]

I mean I love Fly design as much as anyone. But this guitar was just a great production guitar. Not a unique one of a kind work of art.

Hakim is not asking anyone to buy it. He didnt even expect anyone to love the way it looks. He simply took many design ideas that even this forum has discussed and "Hakimed" them into a Fly. There is more than amatuerish craftsmanship involved in this conversion. And its a prototype on the way to somewhere else. A step on a journey. Not something destined to be the next production guitar. Its a concept guitar. (Like a concept car).

He isn't trying to convert all Flys to this and he didn't sneak out to convert or threaten our Flys or the existing masses of Flys in any way. I doubt he has any desire to do a second Fly. He has already moved on.

I think he gets kudos for a bold move whether or not it succeeds or fails in any way(in his mind because thats all that counts here).

And I thank him for sharing it here.

Very creative. I was imagining your work with a bit more of the upper horn remaining to balance the lower (not so rounded looking), and perhaps black anodized aluminum on the block - it makes all the difference in my mind. I have to tell you, though, I don't have 1/100 skill, but if I did, I would have used a P42 [:)]

In any event, you took the plunge and I'm glad you're glad; that's all that matters in the end, eh?
