Influence on Hendrix and many other hotshots.
In May 1959, "The Happy Organ" by Dave "Baby" Cortez shot to the #1 spot on the Billboard charts, before giving way only one week later to Wilbert Harrison's "Kansas City", both of which feature classic guitar solos by Spruill. He almost duplicated this feat in 1961 when Bobby Lewis's "Tossin' and Turnin'", featuring Spruill's guitar solo, hit #1 was followed up the charts by the Shirelles' "Dedicated To The One I Love", which peaked at #3.

So, he recorded the actual break on this song (@ 1:22-1:47):
SORRY--link is nonfunctional, unknown song--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owHU_r3qQOE
And on this rapidfire tripletted to the yingyang boogie:
LINK BROKEN, song was probably Happy Organ, by Dave 'Baby' Cortez http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FpDubag4Uw
(@1:12 to 1:29 and fade-out)

Sorry about the huge length of this hyperlink:

My favorite Spruill instrumental ain't on the CD, though. It's called 'Scratchin', and you can hear it in full, in low-fi, yessir, step forward, right chere:
broken, too?

The Hound is cool. I  played  "Hey Mama Keep Your Big Mouth Shut" by Bo Diddley. In fact I played it twice. Now four times. I almost walked on top of a Copperhead snake Thursday. Good song to sing to the snake.

"Brainverms come crawling and creeping and eat you when you're sleeping."

What do you sing to a blue-tongued skink?

People have such strange pets. I'm heading back to The Hound for some more Bo Diddley.

By the way, as a worm, you should know that snakes do not have external ear openings. Their hearing sense is rudimentary, "felt" as shock waves through the medium of air or the soil.

I do believe that most would listen to the Diddley Daddy if given a chance. Hope you didn't turn that copperhead into a belt, hatband, or guitar finish!

I left the copperhead alone. There was a newspaper story a few days ago about a guy who stopped to finish a rattlesnake off. The rattlesnake almost finished the guy off. I'm trying to be smarter than I used to be.
