Hi Computor Bill. Are you still out there?

It might be helpful to keep peace if we had a new topic heading to go under the " Favorite guitarist" heading.

The new heading would be something like "Any&All Other Musicians"

Thanks for considering

--the other Bill (the very much non computor Bil).

I started ignoring it when the most bizarre myspace losers started making the list 1/2 doz/day.

Before that I used to enjoy being reminded to listen to some of the known masters and to take a second look at the ones that I am yet to own music from.

Was I sounding like a jerk in that thread? I found the responses far more offended than I'd have thought they'd be.

No, you were not sounding like a jerk.  You simply stated what many of us feel.

Not so fast, buster! I am not! You are!

Thanks for deleting that word.

Maybe I should go through my posts and scrub a few intemperate remarks. Take a month off to really delve....

I'm totally with you on this one Bill. I've been very guilty of posting all sorts of stuff in the F/G section and until I followed the link you posted I had no idea of the upset it was causing to some members. I thought it was justified because inspiration can come from all sorts of directions. However when all's said and done it does say Favorite Guitarists so they do have a rather watertight case. Your idea provides a solution. It would a shame if we couldn't post an uplifting choral work or some hot piano playing somewhere on the forum if we thought it would be of interest to others. I think it's good for guitarists to hear all manner of music.

I'd also like to see a section for non-musical topics. This forum is crawling with intelligent, erudite and amusing people whose views on the world at large would be very entertaining. It's a shame not use such a resource. (won't happen though).
The only thing that exists is this moment now.

Hey Yo.

I dont think "Computor Bill" is out there anymore. I hope I'm wrong but I dont think anyone from USM/Parker regularly visits the forum anymore.

I feel we are lucky to still have it and maybe its best if they will just keep letting it run.

Anyway, a compromise:

I think people will forgive us if we post in the thread with a disclaimer in the topic heading. That way they know not to look at what offends them.

Something like " Non-guitarist but great vocals"

Even with such an ettiquite violation, its still tidier housekeeping than posting everything in the "General" section.

But if others disagree, I will avoid the topic and post in general.

Forum Harmony is more important than good housekeeping.

I'm still very much here. Just been swamped with work - more than ever. We'll review the topics here and probably add some more based on this thread soon. A dealers thread is already planned.

i'm so stupid.  i meant, ignore complaints about this non-issue.  who cares what favorites are posted?  People are considering fabulous musicianship that must in some way be on the minds of us flyers.
