Ouch, my head hurts this morning! [;)] I spent some time figuring out the guitar parts in first couple of minutes of "Dinner music of the gods" from the "Splendido Hotel" album. Challenging, but there's some tasty lines in there. [8D]

Have you tried Invasion of the Monsters?
It is one of the best guitar solo pieces of all time if you ask me.
Al's alternate picking is second to none and his sound is beautiful.

You mean "Invention of the Monsters"? No, but that is one of my favorite tunes on that album. Yeah, Al's right hand technique is incredible! [:p]

An interesting DVD to watch is Al Di Meola at the 1994 Montreux Jazz Festival in what is called the "Rite of Strings". Al, Stanley Clarke and Jean Luc Ponty - there's some amazing stuff! [8D]

I have heard some stuff off of that album. There is a newer one that came out in 90s sometime that is full of cool stuff, too. I actually have that one. The name of it escapes me right now, though... [:I]

It's called "The Guitar Trio". Check out Al Di Meola's website, in the discography section - there's a picture of it there.

Was that an album? I do know it was a tune on "Electric Rendevous". My favorite from that album. [8D]

He actually did a guitar clinic at the old store I use to work at and I was amazed.  Not only was his lead work amazing, but his sense of rhythm was mind blowing to me.  He spent a good 30 minutes interacting with the audience and getting them to tap their foot and strum another rhythm at the same time.  He is one of my favorite players since that clinic...
What the hell is wrong with people?!?

Man, some people get all the breaks! I was just wondering, why isn't Al playing a Parker Fly?! I bet he would love one. I saw him with a PRS somewhere. What's he thinking?! [:D]

Seriously, though, that's cool. I wish that could happen to me. [8D]
