He's not off the wall by any means in his guitar abilities, but he did keep up with Steve Vai for an album and a song.

But he's such a diverse and excellent songwriter, singer, guitarist, producer and more... so enjoyable.  He's a great experiementer with sound, tones, guitar tunings...

I thought he deserved some credit in this hall of fame.

Devin's amazing!  I saw him live on the Sex & Religion tour, and he was a maniac!!!  After he pranced around stage, screamed, convulsed, picked his nose, screamed some more, and contorted himself, he grabbed his ESP and started sweep picking like no other.

His solo stuff is pretty cool.  I'm not a fan of Strapping Young Lad, but Ocean Machine and his later solo efforts are great.  His website is www.hevydevy.com I believe.

Thanks for reminding me of him!

I wish I could have seen him back then.  Yes, from The Devin Townsend Band to Terria to Physicist to Ocean Machine to Punky Brewster to SYL, he's just amazing.  Although, I, admittedly, wasn't too impressed with the latest SYL album... it was too dry.  But the song "Love" was quite good.

Once again I wonder what would happen if Devy and Vai got back together for an album after all these years.
