Parker Mojo Single Cut Custom Paint Job
« on: August 28, 2009, 12:43:14 PM »
Has anyone here ordered a custom paint job on a Single Cut? I am thinking of having mine painted. I have ALWAYS wanted a white guitar and I am think since I love this guitar of mine so much I should just make it look the way I want it. Anyone ordered a custom paint job or had an after market paint job done with success?

So you want to strip your current single cut and have it repainted?  Hmmm, I wonder how that would "fly" with the way they do the carbon layer?  Personally I'd been scared off by the possibility of adversely affecting the tone.  I absolutely love the tones coming off my single cut and am debating replacing the bridge with the TonePros/Graph Tech piezo stuff.  I don't want my guitar to lose its "mojo" ;)

Stripping and refinishing a Fly is very doable as long as the person doing the stripping knows not to strip the carbon off the back and neck. There are also examples on here showing a refinishing project simonlock . The Fly paint is typically PPG auto paint, but can be refinished / repainted in other ways too.

I'm actually not going to strip the body, just the top. I don't want to touch the carbon part of the guitar.

I took the plunge, sanded the top down to the wood and had it painted. Here are the first pics of the process.

Looks like it turned out well. But I've observed that painters sometimes mask the pickup cavities, and probably the control cavities on the back. I wonder about the pros and cons of paint being in there.

I guess I am brave. I've been called crazy by many including my wife. But I want what I want. I went ahead and painted the pickup cavities (or allowed it by omission) because I thought it would look a bit more factory. I couldn't really see a downside. the control cavity is plugged.

It is Corvette white which leans towards a blue hue. That is what I wanted. It looks white by itself and blue next to really arctic white paper etc etc. If it turns out bad I am headed for an expensive repaint at the factory. But I wanted to try it... I get it back tonight.

The top pic is esp. sharp. I've got it's antithesis, a "dusty black" Mojo SC....

I'll post more pics with the black hardware back on and maybe some performance shots. I'm loving the white.

Fantastic. I've always wanted a white custom shop Parker Single-cut. I do prefer the string-through-body with one tone knob, one volume knob (more practical live). Please post pics when its all back together.

...um, the FMS/PM60/Firefly isn't string through... nor does it have a one-vol, one-tone control scheme.

That's why I mentioned custom shop. I really like the look of the string through white PM20PRO, but the playability of the single-cut mojo. Also think the older PM20's had just one volume, one tone. By the way, did Parker take the single-cut information off the site? Don't tell me they've quit making it..
