So the paint is worn off on the top there?

I sanded it down for the comfort contour. I have had plans for years to have it painted by Sharon, but my money always finds its way into someone's hands other than hers! Like this year I need a car. So Yet another year will pass without the Sharon paint job I want to bad for my Mojo.

Oh I see. Yeah, I bet that contour is something of an improvement.

Heh...

The first reliced parker I've seen. Might have improved its value now? ;)

LOL!

I wish! I figured since resale value was so low for the FMS I'd just do whatever I wanted to it. I do love playing this guitar.

I was wondering, should I do this to my prototype single cut fly? I am not a huge fan of the color, I was thinking something different, but I don't want to mess up the value of it. Thoughts?
I have guitars, most are beyond my playing level, but I love them all!

In retrospect I should have just saved up and sent it to Shazrock. I am now saving up to send it to her and get it painted right. Totally worth it to me because this is my never sell guitar. And the resale value is so low I'd say go for it if it's a keeper. In other words I don't think you can mess up the value. And since Sharon paints to factory specs, I can't see it hurting the value at all.

Now that I have my FMS in natural mahogany setup with gold hardware I've been debating what to do with my FMS that has the Black Cherry burst flame top.  I'd sell it if I could get a grand out of it, but that's not looking likely on eBay these days.  I'm also considering sending it to Shazrock for new paint, but I'm concerned that the flame maple top just isn't high enough quality to make it really pop if restained.

The top is .23mm thick. it's a thin veneer epoxied on. So it would have to be stripped not sanded to preserve. I think that's a little dangerous using chemicals around the frets. I find the burst on the FMS so underwhelming that I think a solid color would also be an upgrade. I really like the ice burst if that's what it's called. Light blue guitar that burst to white. Kinda cool. I think the FMS has a SG vibe so maybe a cherry red would be cool.

LIKE the relic look!  have you tried creme p/u surrounds?  have never seen an fms, but mojo means mahogany body, right?  and a basswood set neck and carbon fibered back and neck w/ss glued-on frets?  what humbucks are you using, what does it weigh, and did it once have piezo/ribbon system?  sorry for my ignorance.  i love a hardtail or TOM style bridge.  i have been jonesing for an mid/early 60s or 50s melody maker or sg style gibson, but maybe fms is the way to go.   :D

It is mahogany neck and body. 22 SS glued on frets. I'm using a Jazz Neck and a Seth Lover bridge. It's totally my sound. Love the guitar. It doesn't come with a piezo, but the last limited run of the FMS was the PM60 and it had a piezo. If you are patient they turn up on eBay from time to time and sound like they'd be exactly what you want.  I definitely get the SG/Gibson vibe but with around a 6-6.5lb weight.  I don't think I'd like the creme surrounds with the white. My long term goal is to get it sprayed by Shazrock in Pearl White with a little extra sparkle.
