That archtop looks like it would be an incredible treat for the player's ears. That sound hole looks like it would somehow balance the treble and bass response aimed at your head. I love all the details he puts in. What is most remarkable is that there is always a reason and function to all the details and uniqueness. None of it is to be fancy or "different"" from the rest.

So often, form following function results in ugly, but Ken Parker somehow keeps developing functional works of art.  Thankfully, I'm fortunate enough to own a few pieces of it.

I've had dreams about the "Olive Branch!" One thing I've noticed in most of the pic's and conversations of him, is that Ken seems to be enjoying his craft! I'm happy for him! [:D]

Those are some very cool guitars. Interesting how that neck seems to be floating above the body on the Olive Branch...

The acoustics are breathtaking.  The Taz however, is shaped like a spleen.  Back to the drawing board on that one.

As I understand it, there were only three of those made.  This one is called the Taz because of the wood in it.  It has also been said that this is the orignal idea for the single cut. When you look at it, it is the Fly shape with the gap between the horn and body filled in. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked it, but like all artistic things, if grows on you.  I've also heard from people who have played the Taz and it is amazing.  Just another piece of musical art from the master himself.

I love that shape. I want a regular solid mahogany body that shape with two humbuckers and flamed maple top. But it has to have a Fat Fly neck.[:0]

I get my guitar forums confused...

Did anyone here mention Taku Sakashta's guitars?  I think he was at the show with his acoustics, but I lust after his electrics:

I believe the guitar that cy2989 was asking about was built by Michihiro Matsuda. I've seen his work at the Newport Guitar Festival. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a website. The Taz, BTW, was selling last year at Dream Guitars for 13k USD(not quite a 1/2 year of a college education). Don't know if it ever sold. The Olive Branch, estimated at somewhere around 30k USD, is still less than one year(tuition, books, room and board)at a private university in the US.

Hey that's a different Olive Branch than the one we've previously seen!  This one is maple with snakewood details, the previous was glorious Koa.  How many has he made?  And does anyone know, seriously, what the price point on any of these is?

IIRC, the Olive Branch had a price tag of around $35,000.

Hi All,

The new guitar is not called the Olive Branch - that was Ken's first new archtop. To the best of my knowledge, the new one is not yet named, but it could be that I just don't know its name. It's a real beauty, and I've heard that it sounds just incredible. As you can imagine, Ken keeps getting better with every new guitar. I hope to hear this one at some point.

I haven't seen the profile.  Top looks similar though. I'm sure it's badass.  Does anybody here on the forum actually own one of his guitars?  I have a feeling it just us poor folk that can barely afford the Fly...
