Title: 98 Fly arrived : )
Post by: J H S on December 06, 2016, 06:34:12 PM
As expected and just what I wanted.  Mahogany in trans-red.

Guitar arrived with 9.5's on a 9 spring.

I put 10's on with a 10 spring and currently tuned to Eb.
Set up trem according to guide found in these forums...(nicely explained, thanks).

Everything is working well and clean.  Lovely sounds.

Action is a bit high, and too high past 12th fret.
Not sure if this is a bridge height issue or if the truss rod needs a tweak.
I plan on letting is settle in for a week before messing with the truss rod.

Guitar came with a dud fender gig bag so I'm hunting a Parker gig bag and still interested in a Hiscox Fly case if ever I see one.

Thanks again for the education and recommendations.

One more question:
Why do I already want another one?

Jim

darn fine guitars!

IMHO...

Buy a hiscox case skip the gig bag altogether.

Worry less about that new guitar.

Cheers!

seems the only place to buy Hiscox Fly case is in Europe.

I found a store in Germany that can special order but I haven't made up my mind to do that just yet.

PM me if you're still interested in a Parker gig bag.  I have one that I might be willing to part with.

I have always liked the way a Parker gig bag tucks the guitar in and wraps around the hockey stick and the body, someone put some thought into that design too.

I'm more than a bit clumsy so a hardcase keeps me from singing the blues.
I found an Ibanez Roadstar case for the Fly, fits well with a rag tucked in for filler padding.
$10 from a thrift store!, when someone knows it's a Roadstar case and out pops the Parker there's a double take or two.

cool, glad to hear that its working for you!

Sounds like you just need to lower the bridge, using two hex screws on the back.  Would be very surprised if you need to do anything to the truss rod.  These play best with no relief imho.

I personally love the gig bag...

thanks Billy.  I just got a decent string height gauge, I'll check out the bridge ...neck looks good to me so you are probably right.

.
noodler, I pm'd you on the gig bag...

.
happy new year all!
